A Challenge

A couple of weeks ago Margaret Loves issued a challenge.  The challenge is to choose a paper that is not your usual taste or have someone else choose a paper of their liking and design a room around it.  I asked my 11 year old son to choose a paper for me that he likes.

This is the paper:

At first, he thought they were little monsters but realized they are owls.  He still likes it and I think it would be fab as a kids room.

These are few of the things I'm thinking of using in the room.

I'm going to try to make some bunk beds or a loft bed resembling this.  I would so love to have this full scale for the kids rooms and I'm sure they would love it too.

It's supposed to be finished by the end of March...that's in 2 days.  I'm thinking I may be a little late on the deadline, but I promise to finish!

BTW: Mini Aesthetics is doing the challenge too.  Check it out!

A Young Man After My Heart

Last night my 11 year old son wanted to hang out with my in my mini area while I work on a dollhouse that I got on Craigslist (we are giving to a friend-it's not really my style).  More on that later.  He wanted to have a contest to see who could design a better room.  We would have have his little brother decide the winner.  This is what he came up with...

It really has an artistic vibe doesn't it?  Notice that nothing is where it should be?  You have got to  love  the creativity!

Abstract Art

After the furniture started falling off the walls and ceiling, he decided to make a few revisions:

He managed to make his own version of a lamp I made and wired it himself.  The spotlight is a battery operated book light.

Dinner al fresco?

This is the fab floor light I got from Minisx2 on Etsy

Then, best of all he made me this:

It's a planter box with tall grasses and he used pebble scrapbook paper for the  filler.
By the way he won the contest.  I didn't even get my room finished...

Retro Mini

I just ordered and got this awesome floor lamp from Minisx2 on Etsy.  I've seen a few of her things on Ebay lately and really hope she is going to continue making cool stuff to sell!  She has furniture that would be fab with modern, not just retro or midcentury.

This is what I came up with in the Atomic Bungalow (which is by the way for sale on Ebay).

Is't this lamp cool?

Accessories are re-ment and miscellaneous craft store finds; the wooden sculputre is Kaleidoscope house, pillow is AG Minis, the sofa and chair are vintage E-bay purchases, the vase is Kaleidoscope house, the coffee table is by me and the awesome lamp is of course Minisx2.

Zebra Wood Stripes

So, I decided to make a little scene to show off a couple of new things I made for my Etsy store: ModPodMiniatures. I'm still in the process of finishing a couple more things, but I'd love some feedback. ;-)

I made this little cabinet that has working sliding doors from wood and laminate.  The desk is zebra wood.

The chair is Reac, the lamps are vintage Ebay finds.  The white cabinet is Brinca Dada and the rest of the office accessories are Re-ment.

The rug is a $1.00 doiley from Michael's (I like the grey). The loveseat is Kaleidoscope House and the table in the background is another Ebay find.  The house is the Atomic Bungalow.
